The Humane Society of Greenwood was selected by the GMFCU Board of Directors to receive a donation of $1,700! The monies were collected through their “Skip-A-Pay” program. Sharp Facets Gallery is joining efforts with Food Lion and their April Pet Food Drive for the Humane Society of Greenwood. During the month of April, for every purchase from, or sale to, Sharp Facets they will donate money towards the purchase of pet food from Food Lion! Anne Eller says “Every bag of food will make a difference and we just thought why not be part of a great campaign with Food Lion to stamp out hunger at the Greenwood Shelter.”

We will be at Food Lion located at 1605 Bypass 72 NE in Greenwood, SC, on Saturday, April 6 from 10a to 4p. On hand will be adoptable dogs — like Glen! — and we will be collecting donated pet food supplies. Come out and see us! (Food Lion Store located at 1520 Edgefield Street is also collecting donations of pet food on behalf of the Greenwood County Animal Shelter.)

For the month of April, both Food Lion stores in Greenwood, SC are collecting donations of dry pet food for the Greenwood County Animal Shelter (operated by the Humane Society of Greenwood). Since 2005 the Society had been receiving free food supplies from pet food manufacturers; however, the availability of those free foods have all but ended as those companies have improved their processes in order to reduce costs associated with production “overruns.”

Lander University’s Alpha Tau Omega fraternity held an Easter egg-themed fund raiser on March 21 that raised $250 to benefit the Humane Society of Greenwood. The event was called “eggerATOr” and, for a $1 donation, students and teachers were invited to throw eggs at the ATO fraternity brothers. HSOG staff and adoptable dogs were on hand at Lander for the event.

Palmetto Christian Academy’s National Honor Society Held a food and supply drive for the Greenwood Animal Shelter. 190 lbs of dog food and 52 lbs of canned cat food were donated, along with much needed cat litter and cleaning supplies. The students were thrilled to be able to donate this much to the shelter.
