Adult Cat Adoption Fees Reduced!
We are reducing the adoption fees indefinitely for adult cats, one-year and older, to $15! All cats adopted from the Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, feline leukemia-tested, and microchipped. That’s a lot of “bang for your buck!” And here are some reasons why adopting an adult cat may better suit your lifestyle and home:
What you see is what you get.
The Sunshine House Paid the Shelter Animals a Visit
Twenty-eight children from The Sunshine House paid the shelter animals a visit and, as you can see, had a wonderful time! Along with their big smiles and big hearts, they brought donations of supplies, all of which we appreciated so much. Thank you to the Sunshine House staff and children for making our Monday so much fun!

She was found walking down a road with a shock collar embedded in her neck, but you wouldn’t know it now; our ladylike Beagle Shona’s so well healed she’ll show you her playful side, and she’s the epitome of civilized — perfectly housetrained, quiet and tranquilly affectionate, she’ll lie at your feet lovingly, and shadow you into the next room,
South Carolina Festival of Discovery
We’re very excited for the Festival of Discovery celebration this week. The Humane Society of Greenwood is encouraging attendees to leave their dogs at home to avoid the very real risk of their over-heating and burning foot pads. The ground is usually 30 to 40 degrees hotter than the air temperature. July in South Carolina is just a very hot time of year.
Will You Help?
At this time of year, litters of puppies and kittens are carried through the shelter door in boxes, clothes hampers, makeshift traps, and containers that were never designed for animal transport. The devoted mothers of the sweet little ones often accompany their offspring. With the increase in animals comes an increase in costs.

He’ll fetch and return a hundred times, and if his furrowed brow looks worried it’s only because he’s afraid you’ll ask him to share his squeaky toy — it’s the only thing this 7-month-old Jack Russell/Shar-pei mix won’t give; his boyish heart and playful devotion are yours for the asking.
