Greenwood County and the HSOG have partnered to fund and construct a new animal shelter. Groundbreaking was in mid-July 2017 and the expected completion date is in May or June 2018. The new facility is located on Airport Road across from the Leath Women’s Correctional Institution.

We appreciate all of the contributors to our major gifts campaign, which is financing the construction of the Adoption Center, Spay/Neuter Clinic, and Community Education Room. Greenwood County is funding the Intake Center for the facility. This project is a necessary first step in creating a no-kill community.

The campaign continues as the HSOG endeavors to create an endowment that will generate funds to assist with operational costs of the Adoption Center, Community Education Room, and to further the program that will reduce pet overpopulation and create growing pet-friendly community.
