Cat Neuter-A-Thon Breaks HSOG Records!

Dr. Paula Watkins and HSOG staff members were able to perform 52 cat neuters at our first ever cat neuter-a-thon — the most ever at our facility. The special event offered owners of male cats a reduced price of $25 for the neuter surgery and rabies and distemper vaccinations. We are so grateful to area cat owners who took advantage of this opportunity and for helping us in our campaign to reduce the animal overpopulation in our community.

If you were not able to attend the 12/3 County Council meeting to see the presentation made by an HSOG volunteer addressing the need for animal welfare reform in Greenwood, watch the video below. If you have trouble viewing the video, you can also watch it here. Thank you to everyone who attended showing support and to County Council for allowing us the opportunity to address the needs and recommend possible solutions.

600 Miles to Home

This documentary was filmed in mid-July 2013. Volunteers from Operation Paws For Homes (OPH), one of HSOGs rescue partners, drove 600 miles from Maryland and Washington D.C. to document how and why OPH travels to animal shelters in rural Southern areas to pick up dogs, transport them back to Northern states to adopt them out.
