June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month

The Humane Society of Greenwood is celebrating the American Humane Association’s National Adopt-A-Cat Month during June. It’s an ideal time to adopt a feline, since the spring and summer months typically bring a surge of kittens and cats to the nation’s shelters. The Humane Society of Greenwood encourages people to enrich their lives by adopting a cat.

During the month of June, they’re offering a special incentive by reducing adult cat adoptions (six months and older) to $15. (The adoption fee for cats younger than six months is $50.)

All adopted cats are: 1) Spayed or neutered; 2) Feline Leukemia tested; 3) Vaccinated; and 4) Microchipped. One free vet exam with Chinquapin Animal Hospital is included with each adoption.

Each spring during “kitten season,” thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters across the country. That means your Greenwood County Animal Shelter has cute, cuddly kittens, in addition to all the mellow, older cats and everything in between. And the shelter staff are ready to help you adopt your very first cat — or to bring home a friend for another beloved cat!

“Whether you’re looking for a fun, frisky kitten or a mellow, mature cat, you’ll find the perfect feline at our shelter,” says Karen Pettay, Executive Director. “We have cats of all breeds, ages and personalities, and they’re all looking for loving, permanent homes.”
